His nesting discussion turns upside down the previous standard that blue orchard bees prefer 6" holes of 5/16" diameter. His discussion of mud is outstanding. Something this simple can have a huge effect on bee retention at your nesting sites. He covers everything including male and female behavior and their use in the pollination business. I love this book because it is so well written and informative. It explains very clearly how to manage blue orchard bees. There is information here that is not available elsewhere. The author uses a photo and caption to illustrate each main point and gives further details below. The explanations are very clear and give practical advice based on his experience, observations and research. The chapters on mud and yield of trees are particularly good. Each chapter is so full of facts and tips that I recommend this book to everyone who is interested in blue orchard bees. I look forward to any future books on blue orchard bees written by Gerald Bodily.
